Deep down, everyone knows their own answers

However, sometimes it is hard to find those answers by ourselves, for various reasons: 

  • You are so used to adapting to expectations from family, friends, colleagues or images in (social) media that it is no longer clear what is yours (What do I want) and what are the expectations of others.
  • You are so busy doing or surviving that there doesn't seem to be time or energy to think about what you need or want.
  • Fear of hearing your own answers (What if my own answer is something completely different from what I do now, how I live now?)
  • In our school system, you are trained to tackle any question or problem with conscious thinking, knowledge and analysis. However, you cannot take complex decisions with your rational mind alone. You also need to use your intuition, your feelings or unconcious thougth.

My role is to help you find your own answers 

In my coaching trajectories I"ll help you find those answers through:

  • asking loads of questions
  • reflecting back what I hear and notice and also the things I don't hear or notice
  • using exercises that help you to not only use your powerful rational mind but also access the wisdom of your feelings and intuition

And to help you take necessary steps

  • I'll help you find small, practical steps that have a big impact  
  • I'll support you in taking those steps

Maybe you think that a poor work-life balance is just part of what it means to work in academia. Maybe your struggle with balance makes you doubt whether you belong in academia. Maybe you feel that you have to make a choice between feeling balanced or living your ambitions. Work-life balance can feel daunting or even impossible when working in academia. Although finding balance in academia is no easy feat, it is certainly possible to feel more balanced!

Career coaching - Making career choices

You are at a crossroads in your career, you keep going in circles in your head and you cannot make a choice which way you want to go next.  Perhaps there is a concrete opportunity opening up. But you can't decide whether you should go for this or something else. Or, Your contract is ending soon and you are wondering what next step suits you. You may have already made a list of the various pros and cons of possible next steps. But that does not provide a clear choice either.

Or, Perhaps no concrete choice presents itself, but something is nagging at you even though you have a great job and you are good at it. Rationally you can't complain at all.  And yet .... You get much less energy from your work than you would like. You wonder: “Is this it? Can't I do much more? “  You want to get more energy and joy out of your work. Maybe you do a lot of things based on willpower, you adapt to what you think others expect of you and you feel like you live mainly on autopilot. Behind your dilemma there is a desire or a wish somewhere. Feeling what you want or desire will help you make a choice that really suits you and what you have to offer to the world.

Finding more balance

Do you feel out of balance? Do you feel rushed or stressed? Maybe you sleep poorly and worry a lot. Are you often exhausted at the end of the day and do you mainly work on willpower?
